Terms of Use

1. Acceptance

By using Pianotype, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Pianotype. If you use Pianotype on behalf of another person, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms for them.

2. The Service

Pianotype helps users practice piano, sight-reading, note recognition, rhythm, and related music skills. The app may provide generated exercises, progress tracking, personalized recommendations, microphone-based pitch recognition, MIDI keyboard support, and other practice tools.

Pianotype is a practice and education tool. It does not replace a teacher, professional musical instruction, medical advice, or accessibility advice.

3. Accounts and Eligibility

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and device access secure. You must provide accurate information when creating an account or contacting support.

Children may use Pianotype only with permission and supervision from a parent or legal guardian where required by applicable law.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

Pianotype may offer paid subscriptions or other paid features. Subscription prices, renewal periods, trial availability, and included features are shown before purchase in the app or by the applicable app store or payment provider.

• App Store subscriptions are billed by Apple and renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You can manage or cancel App Store subscriptions in your Apple ID subscription settings.
• Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's policies.
• If Pianotype offers web or other non-Apple payments, those payments are handled by the payment provider shown at checkout.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse Pianotype. In particular, you must not:

• copy, resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit Pianotype except as permitted by law;
• reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code except where applicable law allows it;
• interfere with Pianotype's security, availability, analytics, billing, or subscription checks;
• use automated scraping, abuse, or load testing against Pianotype without written permission;
• upload or transmit unlawful, harmful, infringing, or malicious content.

6. Content and Intellectual Property

Pianotype, including its software, interface, exercises, generated practice flows, text, graphics, audio-related features, trademarks, and other materials, is owned by Pianotype or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.

You keep ownership of information or content you submit to Pianotype, but you grant us the rights needed to operate, secure, improve, and support the service.

7. Privacy

Our handling of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy. By using Pianotype, you agree that we may process data as described there.

8. Third-Party Services

Pianotype may rely on app stores, payment processors, analytics providers, crash reporting tools, hosting providers, email providers, and other services. Their own terms and privacy practices may also apply.

9. Changes and Availability

We may update Pianotype, change features, correct errors, suspend access, or discontinue parts of the service. We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version will be posted at https://pianotype.com/terms.

10. Disclaimers and Liability

Pianotype is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not promise that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every pitch, MIDI event, exercise, recommendation, or progress measurement will be perfectly accurate.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pianotype is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, revenue, profits, or goodwill.

11. Termination

You may stop using Pianotype at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, misuse the service, create risk for other users, or if required by law.
